Five Ford Transit Lutons Delivered and Deployed for Cool Motion
Cool Motion is a UK refrigerated van and trailer rental provider supporting businesses that rely on temperature-controlled transport.
They are a national company with key depots located in strategic locations, enabling us to service clients nationwide. Cool Motion currently operates depots in Leicester (2 depots), Derby, Birmingham, Glasgow and Edinburgh (2 depots), giving us strong coverage across the UK.
Operating in a fast-paced logistics environment, Cool Motion focuses on providing customers with modern, reliable vehicles that can be deployed quickly and flexibly.
As demand for rental vehicles continues to grow, expanding the fleet with dependable, high-capacity vehicles is essential to maintaining service levels.
The Requirement
Cool Motion approached us looking to add five new vehicles to their fleet.
Their priorities were clear:
- Competitive acquisition costs to support fleet growth
- Maximising usable capacity within the 3.5-tonne limit
- Vehicles required to be on the road as soon as possible
- A straightforward, reliable build and delivery experience with full transparency.
The vehicles also needed to meet the operational demands of a rental fleet. Reliability, driver usability and consistent specification were also key considerations, ensuring each vehicle could perform across a wide range of customer usage.
Although Cool Motion already operates panel vans within their fleet, they were looking for larger, high-volume vehicles to expand their offering and support customers moving larger loads.
The Solution
We supplied five Ford Transit L3 Single Cab Lutons, chosen for their reliability, strong chassis platform and suitability for high-volume transport applications.
Ford was selected to provide a dependable base vehicle that aligns with the expectations of a busy commercial fleet.
Base Vehicle

- Rear Wheel Drive (RWD)
- Twin Rear Wheel (DRW) configuration for enhanced stability and load handling
- 165ps engine
- 7,000kg train weight
The DRW setup improves traction and weight distribution, helping drivers maintain stable and predictable handling when vehicles are fully loaded, an important benefit for rental fleets where vehicles may be used across a wide range of transport tasks.
Body and Conversion
Each vehicle was built with a 13’6” (4145mm) Luton body, designed to provide maximum cargo volume while remaining lightweight to protect payload capacity.

The CPD aerodynamic pod helps improve fuel efficiency at motorway speeds while also protecting the body structure from water ingress, supporting long-term durability.

The vehicles were supplied in white and finished with side livery through CPD’s trusted branding partner, ensuring strong on-road visibility for the Cool Motion fleet.
To support a smooth and transparent process, Cool Motion also had access to CPD’s online customer portal. This allowed them to track the progress of each vehicle from order through to completion, providing clear visibility and confidence throughout the build and delivery timeline.
The Result
All five vehicles were built, prepared and handed over within two weeks, allowing Cool Motion to expand their fleet quickly and meet growing customer demand.
